Sounds like some of the well-painted Trapezetoi figures would be at
home on a General's staff element base, giving their report or
awaiting dispatch "over the next hill."
And putting single figures on washers could provide some color-- they
could be placed next to a General to "count down" his being able to
execute orders "next bound but one" or however it is phrased when you
go overtime on minutes.

I had considered using mine(Trapezitoi) as the yucky medium cavalry you have to
take for the Commenan list. The only problem is that my figures show multiple
spears in the shield hand which leads one to believe that the figure is a
Javelin armed type. Another possible use is as a later lombard as the lists say
these begin to look more byzantine as time goes by. Does anyone else have any
suggestions for their use in a Warrior list? I really would hate to have spent
all that time painting them and not have a use for them in Warrior. . . What
are some of you gents using your Trapezitoi as? Are there any historical troop
types out there that they can be passed off for?

I am painting a 25mm Nik army now. I am just glad it is not another troop

Must be a Nikephorian rennaissance going on here. I too am painting
up a 25mm Nike army. Perhaps the new "sleeper" "spoiler" army at the
Cons...
And I'll bet no two of us have the same option selection.

Does anyone else have any suggestions? For some reason, mixing them with EHC is
not appealing. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

We have two San Antonio players already playing this in 15mm, and
another building it.
This is knight heaven around here, and the loose/open order slingers,
and HC that can skirmish are the big attraction, I think.
We have found the HI quazi-Legionaries to be quite formitable, if you
get them on the right target.
Myself, I'm doing Early Byz. Not quite as good as Nike but the 15mm
figures from Museum for Early Byz are the bomb!

Hey Greg,
Are the Museum Skutatoi as good as the Essex?

Museum only makes two kinds of figure lines;
a) guys that look half starved riding a pony they got for Christmas.
b) some of the best 15mm figures I have ever seen.
The Early Byz are the latter, but they are definately Early period
dress.

I think I have the same figures . They have multiple spears in the shield
hand and a lance around the back??
I was thinking of using them as Vardaroits(spelling??) in a later byzantine
list.

Ed,
That's not a bad Idea! Jake Kovel sells 15mm bow cases and I could glue
some on and there you have it! I wonder what a vardariot looks like. . .
