My point exactly,
Most folks like to play with their own lead. I know I take more pride
in my own figures! Couldn't we have a 15mm event? Why push the 25's so hard?

a cheap rate let me also field this army for both dbm and warrior.

I must respectfully disagree. 25mm has been the proposed scale since we
started talking about this tournament last May. This is not a tournament to
add to the list of tournaments around the country. We are not trying to find
a venue to bring the guys from middle america and the southwest together,
although this promises to work very nicely for that.

The biggest reason for our decision to put this on was recruiting. 15mm does
not recruit well. People walk by and see little masses of lead and ASSUME it
is so much more DBx. Aesthetics are lost on 15's, Dave Smith and Greg Regets
aside. But even when there is beautiful work in 15's laid out, it is often
just not recognized.

There are very few WAB guys playing in 15mm and yet their numbers grow. We
know from our last 2 events that 25mm games draw interest. Just look to
Historicon for confirmation of this. We have new players down here who are
building 25mm armies. We want to increase this aspect of the hobby.

Patrick is the final arbiter on this decision and I am only offering my
opinion, but I am firmly in the camp of this should be a 25mm event. Paint
an army, buy one on ebay or borrow one. There are numerous 15mm tournaments
around the country. Let this one be the 25mm event we set in motion. With
time this, like all others, will probably morph into a multi scale event, but
to start with I believe we should be focused on a single scale and
recruiting.

Jon/Scott,

I might be able to attend if I could know what the dates are.

>Hear hear! Again, I'll loan all my 25mm lead if that's what it takes. I kno
w from past experience that *we* look better in terms of display, generating a
buzz, etc., if we do this in 25mm. Most of the guys who were 15mm players th
at *had* to make the switch to 25mm if for nothing else than the NICT (Rob Tur
nball being my favorite example) have never looked back. I will do whatever i
t takes to put people in an army they won't mind running for a weekend, in 25m
m. I only wish I had more to loan!

>Right now, we've got 3 people coming down (Jon, me, Todd) and planning on pla
ying 25mm (at least on Saturday, if Friday is FW, I personally don't care what
scale although it is awfully DBA-like in terms of how it looks to others when
run in 15mm). Hopefully that'll be more once Jon canvasses the troops.

So... Scott, Does this mean you'll loan me an army to play? Wink. . . ;)

excluding the favored scale of that area. . .]

>>Chris, by merely focusing on 25mm you will exclude the target population that
you are trying to recruit! This is folly! Sure, many like to look at 25mm. It's
pretty, but this is the Mid-West and people out here are less extravagant with
their dollars than those back East or out West. Most every new player I've known
has started out in 15mm. Perhaps increasing 25mm attendance at flagship
conventions should be pushed harder with the fish that are already hooked rather
than the noobie who doesn't want break the bank for a 25mm army. . .
