Jon,

1. This question applies to a tournament setting. If in my army list I have
a detachment that is eligible to be attached to 2 different units in my
army, am I allowed to specify which unit it is a detachment of during the
³List units and other bodies by commands² portion of the pre-game sequence,
or must this be specified ahead of time in the actual list? That is, may a
unit be purchased with a detachment command and its position in the army
will be determined later, or when purchased, must the parent body be
specified?

2. As far as number of bodies in a command and determining whether a
command goes into retreat orders, I am assuming that if the detachment is
detached, it counts as a separate body. But, when the detachment is
attached, it no longer does so. In this way, the number of bodies in a
command will change based on the status of detachments within the command.
Is this correct?

Thanks for your responses to these questions. As a player who only gets to
play at the big tournaments, I find this forum invaluable. I can actually
make some attempt at staying up-to-date with a proper understanding of the
rules. Keep up the good work.

The parent unit of a detachment is identified at the time of purchase and not
when command structure is determined.

No, but I will cede to you that it wasn't written as clearly as it could have
been. A detachment is a unit for demoralization purposes, whether combined with
the parent or not. I will add this to the next clarification update.

Thus proving this job is not thankless. You are very welcome.
