Dear List Ho- OK, I concede it is unlikely that you had me personally
in mind when you left Classical Warrior for nearly 2 years down the
pipeline, and I understand we all have day jobs to sped time at. What
do I do with the fact that ALL of my 25mm lead is either Classical
(Seleucid, Polybian Roman, Bactrian Greek ) or Imperial (Sassanid,
Parthian).Oh, and 1 Oriental (Kushan, using lead from the Bactrians
and Parthians).Gosh , as I look at my armies, it looks like I must've
been Iranian in a former life. Am I doomed to play FW until then ? Ok
not such a bad doom, I concede. I guess what I'm asking is this- how
close to the old WRG lists are we going to wind up ? Are the new
lists likely to resemble the NASAMW lists, old yellow/orange books,
or the Hutchby and Clark lists- or am I just screwed, blued & tatooed
until the real lists come out as far as tryinig to get lists I can
plan on using more or less unchanged into the future ?
Look, I admit this is pretty close to whining, but please give me
some guidance here- dave lauerman

I wish I could give you some guidance, I really do but I simply don't
know at this point. One thing is that what you see as "core" troops in
an army now will most likely remain in any future list. The only thing
that might change with "core" troops would be minima/maxima, some morale
grades (Spanish, hee hee), etc.

Scott,
What do you mean by that ?
Being a possessor of both 15mm and 25mm Carthaginians and
Polybian Romans, with enough 15mm to run a Spanish list, I am very
curious as to where this is leading, should I sack the Spanish from any
future lists ? Or will they be the cutting edge of my army ?
Awaiting your reply with interest.

The H&C lists have Irr A Spanish. They won't be in the Warrior Spanish
lists. Now, the whole question of double-arming the Spanish is open for
interpretation and I'm not there yet.

Scott,
A little late with this reply. I agree with you on the liberal H&C
interpretation for irregular A Spanish. H&C use the fact that Spanish troops
fought to the death during Roman sieges. Many people did due to Roman siege
rules. When it became obvious a city would be taken, the Romans offered
surrender. Refusal of this surrender had serious repercussions if the Romans
took the city. Normal Roman operating procedures were to kill all the
warriors and sell the rest of the population into slavery. The idea being
cities would surrender when given the chance thereby reducing casualties and
freeing troops for other operations. From the little I have read on ancient
Spanish, general's or chieftain's bodyguards did swear an oath not to survive
him.
Personally, I think Barker tended to over do irregular A morale in armies
that were involved in religious type wars. The perfect example of this is
the Prussians, who almost never won an engagement of any size against the
Teutonic Knights, yet they are 50% Irregular A. H&C seems to want to find a
way to give irregular A status to some unit in their lists.
