Harlan, I am answering your questions on the group because I want everyone to
'hear' the answers.
1. Is Four Horsemen planning to publish an update rulebook with the latest
clarification?>>
Yes. When the supply of the first printing is exhausted, we will print a new
rulebook. It will incorporate the clarifications and Fast Warrior list
updates. It will also:
-be made with our new production values and layout. For an example, see the
Warrior Battles prototype pages in the files section.
-contain more examples of play. These will use the element images Charlie
Randow has made for us and not the circle and oval element drawings in the book
now.
-be devoid of 'Barkerisms' that survived into the first printing. I'll get
them all.... And more use will be made of bulleted lists and other packaging.
-contain an expanded terrain section, to include the 'in terrain' guidelines,
a terrain chart and a terrain summary rule
-contain four pages of color images of figures.
-include a paginated table of contents and an index.
-integrate 1HCW into the rules and charts
It will not contain any rules changes.
2. If you do publish an updated rule book, will it be available in loose
leaf format so it can easily be put in a binder and sheet protectors?
No. It will be perfect bound on glossy paper with color covers. This will
allow it to fit in store displays, be identifiable (from the binding) when
stored edge-on and compete with other rulebooks for the eye in a store or on a
dealer table.
Spiral or loose leaf binding is relatively inexpensive at places like
Kinko's. We will ensure the inside margins are wide enough that a player can do
that
to his rulebook without loss of text.
Warrior Battles will be our test case. When that is done and out, I will
begin editing the new rulebook.
There will be a program, DETAILS AS YET UNDETERMINED, where you can turn in
your old rulebook for a discount on the new one.

Don't know yet. BELIEVE ME if we had the ability to do it faster or actually
had a clear production schedule beyond Classical Warrior, you'd be told here
the second we knew....
The rules for Campaign Warrior are essentially done. I don't have any active
outside playtesters, but we have been hard at them here in KC for more than a
year with no major glitches of any kind. There are two things between CamWar
and publication -
1. I am its author and Warrior Battles is in line before it.
2. I need two more campaigns to put in the book. I have the War of the
Roses and want at least two more, maybe three - a generic one, a greek or roman
one and a crusades one.
You know, if we had an angel investor and I could do this full time, I could
do AT LEAST two rulebooks a year and probably a lot more.... so, if you know
any rich gamers, send them our way....lol

Jon,
Thank you for your response, it appears that you are making many very good
changing (hmm, I mean clarifications and enhancements) in the next printing.
For us non-printer types, what is prefect bound?

Jon,
This is wonderful! I know of no other wargaming outfit that goes to such
trouble as you and your's have. Thanks for the hard work as I'm sure the
indexing was or will be an enormous task! I just received my Spearpoint and I
suppose that they are in need of articles. . . Wouldn't it be neat if FHE would
tantalize the Spearpoint readership with an army list or two that we will be
seeing in the future list books to come? I bet Rich Wright would love to get the
grist for his readership and we Warrior faithfuls would get a taste of what is
coming! That is if you would be willing to put out a few lists for publication.
. . I will be purchasing EVERY product you put out as will most everyone on this
list! I would just like to see more Warrior stuff in the Spearpoint as the
"Golden Age of DBM" is about to make me throw-up! Thanks for the excellent
news!

The idea of publishing 'teaser' lists is interesting, but it has
problems.
One, whatever I may or may not send to Spearpoint, I will no longer
be holding off publishing it here. So, if I did send SP a list to
tease folks about an upcoming product, they would have seen it here
first long before it arrived in their mailbox.
The other issue would be that any teaser list would be a draft. I
would not want to have any list out there in public that someone
plans on just to have him find out the published one is
substantially different. We'd have to caveat the hell out of it in
such a public venue and I am not sure that gets to what we'd be
trying to achieve by publishing it in the first place.
We'll talk about it at FHE, but not sure its something we'll do.

That's cool Jon,
If nothing else, I just enjoy reading the historical information! The
exhaustive work done on the New World Lists were wonderful reading in it's own
right. And to be honest, too me, that is enough to wet my pallet! Whichever you
dicided to do, I know you will do what is best!

Glossy paper is very bad; it is impossible to read under almost all
lighting conditions without angling the page just right. How about a
good quality matt paper?

Doug,
Why not let FHE decide how they will put their products together? I like
the idea of glossy paper as I'm a terrible slob when it comes to spilling stuff
like beer on my terrain and rules! Ask my opponents about my beer stained brush!

How about taking my comment at face value and recognizing that the glossy
paper is resistant to beer?! I like that in my rules as most are stained beyond

My current game partner, Ambrose, has laminated his entire rulebook.
It looks good and is stain resistent. My only stain is on the quick
reference card in the back, and the stain is coffee of all things :(
