I wonder if either of you gentlemen would happen to have any Polybian or Camillan Romans that I could borrow for Warrior Crush? If not, I understand. Thanks either way,

Thanks for the reply, Jon. It was a long shot anyway. I tried PM'ing Scott about a week ago and have not received any word. It's not that important I suppose. Have a great work week.

PS I may have some painted lead to donate as a prize if you like. |

I would like to thank Jon Cleaves for putting on Warrior Crush/25mm 1200 pts this last weekend. A few last minute "problems" resulted in only 7 people and Jon having to sit out. We have played a couple of tournaments now with a 360 pace deployment zone, and it results in a faster game (6'x4' tables helped). You have to think about using the whole zone and how force marchers can allowing non-force marching enemies to approach.
3 different Chinese lists, my LIR were pretty happy except for that Artillery unit from hell they faced first game!
Special thanks to Scott Holder, Scott had planned to participate but had a last minute problem and he STILL drove from home to KC Saturday night and dropped off odds and ends people needed to play. Your a good man Scott (better than a certain player who didn't even show....)

Warrior Crush 06 Results
A great event!!
1. Steve Hollowell Han Chinese 10*
2. Mike Turner Later Imperial Roman 10
3. Todd Schneider Berber 8
4. Kelly Wilkinson Nikephorian Byzantine 6*
5. Jon Becker Yuan Chinese 6
6. Chris Campbell Han Chinese 2
*won on opponents’ scores tiebreaker
Prizes
First Place Steve Hollowell Trophy and $20 Certificate
The Crusher Steve Hollowell Trophy and $15 Certificate
Best Sportsman Chris Campbell Trophy and unpainted 15mm Army
Best Painted Mike Turner Trophy
Best Camp Mike Turner Painted 25mm Camp Scene
Best Rookie Todd Schneider Trophy and $10 Certificate
Military Misfortune Chris Campbell Battle of Hastings Osprey
Next to Last Place Jon Becker 15mm ptd Persians and JR Tombstones
An excellent event by all accounts. Chris was the unanimous sportsman choice, but all was congenial and my job as umpire was very much like the maytag repairman – which allowed me to get some painting in….
Steve Hollowell took away the Crusher award with 43 total bodies in hand to hand contact at the end of the charge phases of three games. Not bad considering he did not have a mounted unit (just the CINC’s chariot)…..Looks like aggression paid off….
Some thank yous are definitely in order.
First to Kelly for donating a unit of painted Persians to the prize pool. Kelly, I also owe you an apology. I did say beforehand that we had so much prize support that everyone would walk away with something, and I did not make that happen. Your new rulebook is on me.
Second to Phil Kilgore for allowing us the space at Tabletop Game and Hobby and to Darrin Manna for opening the store early and hanging out with us.
Big thanks to Dave Smith for donating the camp award (which some of you know from his miniwars website) as well as an entire 15mm late Muslim Indian army.
Thanks to Jon Becker for coming from Des Moines – down and back in a day – awesome.
But the biggest thanks go to Scott Holder. Prevented from attending due to major league things beyond his control at the last minute, he drove out to my house from Bonnots Mill late Saturday night to provide figures he had promised folks to fill out their armies.
We did not get the numbers we would have liked. We went from a possible of 14 to a planned number of ten down to seven at the last minute, with me taking Scott’s place as umpire and having to sit out to make an even number. But, the good news is Warrior Crush is now an annual event in KC in the spring, so PLAN NOW! Lol
Thanks to everyone for coming and setting the standard for good quality play.

I want to express my thanks to Jon Cleaves and my three EXCELLENT opponents(Mike Turner LIR, Steve Hollowell Han, and Todd Schneider Berbers) this past weekend for one of the most enjoyable Warrior events I've played in a long time. The fact is, I had so much fun playing at this tournament, I went home and painted about 10 more Camillan Romans, only 250 more foot to go! LOL!
Kelly
PS Thanks Jon for the kind gesture for the rules set. I can hardly wait to get my hands on them! |

I had a great time. Been awhile since I've played any army with mounted in it, and of course my toughest game is against Steve Hollowel who didn't have a single mounted unit in it.
I played Berbers, a list I posted on another thread (after ge some advice), and had a great time. My First game against Kelly was a refresher course in what not to do, but it did shake the cobwebs loose in allowing me to take advantage of Jon Beckers misdeployment in round two. After a six month "hiatus" in not pushing any Warrior Units around, I was tied for 1st going into the final round.
I had a good game against Steve, one of the better ones I'veplayed in my short Warrior career. A Tough 4-2 loss that saw a Spear Unit be a hero, and a Han Guard Foot unit throw off not one, but three knight charges. I came in 3rd, and won Best Rookie, which was very cool. Next year I'll be placing higher.
Also, thanks to everyone who loaned me Figs. It was very much appreciated.

Great Tourney Jon! Has me convinced I need to put my own 25mm army together, is beautiful stuff!
Thanks to Becker, Turner, and Han Hollowell. You guys were most patient with my rustiness. Next time you won't have it so easy... _________________ "Primer is a color!" |

Chris,
Next time remember the "Crusher Points", and don't counter away from my EHC! You could have been a contender!

Your right, trying to drink Margaritas while playing against you might be a little tricky.
Your loving bro.
