Quick question: The list states "Only one allied contingent may be present except Asiatic troops..." Does allied contingent only apply if using that allied sub general or does it mean any allied unit?

In other words, is there any reason why I couldn't use Italian peltasts and Thracian infantry units in same Marian list?

Only to allied contingents that require the appropriate general.

So, yes, you could use Italian Peltasts and Thracian infantry units in the same army.
