I have just placed Ed Bernard's thoughts regarding a Hawaiian list in the New World Warrior section. It is very unique and an interesting fun army Very Happy

That's why I teach Social Studies and not English Wink

Unique being in the form of shieldless troops - something you don't see a lot of in people's armies these days.

Ed ran the list a few years ago and held his own. There were a few stone walls and tons of terrain on the board. There are figures out there to make the list http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_102_689&sort=3a at least in 15mm.

I'm not sure of the actual sizes of their armies, but the above site is a famous battle w/ the pikemen of the Hawaiian armies under Kamehameha. They made excellent use of canoes in their attacks as well.

I would have to look into this some more, but it would be a colorful army.

Bloodaxe makes some cool Hawaiian figures in 15mm very reasonably priced - http://www.bloodaxeminiatures.com/products.shtml

Eureka's 15mm Hawaiians are very cool (better sculpted than Bloodaxe) but about five times as expensive.

There were between 250,000 and 1 million people living in the Hawaiian Islands at first contact with Europeans, and they fielded reasonably large armies - upwards of 12,000 warriors per side at the historical battle of Nu'uanu in 1795 (still using traditional Hawaiian weapons plus a couple of cannon).

I just finished painting 356 Hawaiian 15mm figures for a big DBA game at Enfilade in May 2013 - come have a look!
