On Pgs 82-83 of the rules a number of weapons are listed as " a second rank armed with X fights...". In a specific example the rules for LTS state "A second rank of foot using LTS fight at full effect if close formation...etc."
Now when I read this section I interpreted it to mean that a second rank armed with the listed weapon fights....even if the first rank is not armed with the same weapon or has no special weapon at all. (i.e. other cavalry/foot)
However, in a game this weekend a couple of friends with far more knowledge of the Warrior rules clarified this for me. Essentially they said I needed to add the restriction “assuming the first rank is armed with the same weapon” to each of these rules. So, in my example above a second rank of LTS would fight ONLY if the first rank was also armed with LTS.
Now, I’m assuming that my friends interpretation is correct. However, they asked that I post the question since from time to time local game groups interpret a rule incorrectly and the mistake essentially becomes codified within the local gaming group. As written I can see interpreting these rules both ways. An official clarification would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
