Several related questions.
1. May a general's unit have a detachment if the troop type he is in a unit with has identical type and weaponry and is permitted in the list to have a detachment?
2. (seperate question) May a general as an independent staff element _join_ a body which already has 12 elements?
3. (related to 2) A 6E unit has a 6E detachment operating as separate bodies. (3a) May a general as independent staff element _join_ either of these separate bodies? (3b) If so, what happens when they combine back, whether as an intentional move or as a result of a combat result move or some other involuntary move? (3b may or may not be related to 2 above)
4. Is the number of detachment command factors available for an army unlimited like other command factors are now, provided they are available in the list at all and are used for the troop types indicated in the list?
5. Can a unit have two detachments, if the army list indicates it is a legal combination of troop types for parent/detachement?
Thanks, sorry for asking so many questions. |

1. Yes.
2. 4.13 GENERALS JOINING UNITS.
A general mounted on an independent staff element may
join a unit. Joining may be done in any movement phase but
one of the two bodies (unit or staff element) must not move
during that phase. To join, one of the bodies must move
into contact with the other while also abiding by all
restrictions for the type of movement used.
When a mounted general joins a mounted unit, his staff
element is inserted in its front rank. A general on foot that
joins a unit has his element placed in the front rank,
regardless of whether the unit joined is mounted or on foot.
In both these cases, the staff element and its figures count
as part of the combined body and as in the front rank for all
purposes. A Staff element can join a unit of 12 elements.
3. Yes. See above.
4. All list errata now says:
GLOBAL CHANGE: There is no command factor limit on the number of units or detachments in any army; allowable detachments are still determined by the command point lines in each list.
5. 2.53 DETACHMENTS:
Some army lists permit the use of detachments, specifying
both what troops may act as detachments and for which
parent bodies. Detachments are formed with a reduced
command factor cost (17.1). Unless specifically allowed in
the army list, a parent body may only have one detachment.
