Several Warrior veterans gathered yesterday at the invitation of the ever-gracious Bill Low, for gaming and barbeque (the latter enlivened by proto-Warriors at ages 4, 3, and 1!). Highlights included a 'cage match' between the Swiss of Tom McMillen and the Germans of Ed Kollmer, with the Swiss living up to their reputation; elsewhere a bunch of 25mm play in preparation for Historicon, including the terminal boredom that is two long lines of regular JLS, S, Sh LMI facing one another .
The day started with Bill being presented with a fully painted/based 25mm Low Countries army, courtesy of Todd Kaesar/Dave Markowitz/Matt Kollmer/Dan Woyke, in partial recognition of the role he's played in promoting gaming and Warrior - Matt brought an album of some photos at 7th competitions of the past, including Bill with non-gray hair and Todd with teenage attitude and a curled lip ). The fact that several new Low Countries list rules are coming out next week is pure coincidence... but seriously, those of us in the region all owe Bill thanks for his frequent and energetic promotional acts. And not many of us get to have an army named after us, after all.
Gaming - well, the Sassanids actually had dice on their side for a change, and enjoyed the day, although having a unit of IrrB elephants rout on contact with a Low Countries pike block when Dave called for, and promptly rolled, +3 was a little unnerving! I guess I'll stick with these guys for at least a little while, although it will soon have to be time for something new.. |
