I have been reading the lists from Oriental Warrior with a lot of pleasure. It is indeed one of the best set of list notes I have ever read. But I do find one thing of interest - during the period from about the Warring States to the end of the Han Dynasty, the Chinese cavalry used the dagger-axe (ge) or its developed cousin the ji. As you have stated that you did extensive research on the current state of our knowledge of that period, I find that the lack of those weapons in any Chinese list very interesting.
In the main rules you do allow 2HCT weapons to be used mounted, and even have a note devoted to the effect of them on opposing troops. So is it that more modern research has determined that they did in fact not use those weapons mounted during this period? |

Please read the background Stickies in this subject area. This is a classic example of "systems on systems". The weapons in question didn't come close to acting as 2HCT on horseback, hence the designation.
