That reminds me of something else I learned: when playing at Hcon, Todd is a texting fool. Apparently he's got a Warrior list on his phone so everybody gets periodic updates as the game/weekend goes along.
Thankfully he doesn't have my number.

Arturos stood at the table surrounded by his advisers, surveying maps and reports. Suddenly, their attention was diverted by a creak at the door. In drifted the beautiful figure of Quenhara, his queen.
“Reports from the south say that Briedie’s (Matt Kollmer) Picts have faced the Abyssinian(Todd Kaeser)”
Merlin is reported arriving shortly with the outcome.”
There was a murmur of voices around the table.
“Could Merlin”s negotiations have succeeded.” Bishop Cadoc queued.
“ I didn’t think it was a good idea to bribe the Picts into battling the Abyssinian and stealing the Ark for us. I guess I was wrong.” Marius added.
“We will see if it was gold well spent.”
“It was always a tricky deal.” Cei remarked.
Suddenly, the door opened and in walked Merlin. His demeanor was depressed. Silence reigned in the room.
“Not good news, I believe.” Quipped Guenhara.
Merlin took a deep breath.
“The Picts did defeat the Abyssinian. The Ark was within their grasp. The Ethiopian paid them off. I think it was for a limitless quantity of mead.”
“Never trust a Pict.” Cei added. |

I got quite a few pictures from Historicon, both of our games and some interesting other gaming going on around us. Looks like it's easier to post a link to where the photos are than to try and upload the photos here. Apparently I'd have to resize and compress all the photos to fit within our forum's size limitations (limitations that made sense a decade ago).
Anyway, here's Historicon from my point of view: https://goo.gl/photos/85RY8R5kS4FagjzF7 |

Great show Mark!!!
Love the pics.
I see BillL in the background.
Love the pic of Jake in contemplation.
and Dix moving to victory.
I take it that is Ewan with the Helm.
Nice show.
However, the highlight of the show was ...........
THE ARK.
Even though the Picts failed to bring it back.
The ARK is coming........ to the shire of the Berks.
Patience is a virtue. |

Hmm...same group of criminals, I see. Not much has changed. There's still quite a few of us missing, me included. Been looking recently at 16 toolboxes full of 25mm lead...I hear whispers calling my name..."Tim...Mr Roman...the battlefield awaits!" Would be nice too to see you guys before some of you retire off permanently to the big gaming table in the sky. Gonna take a while to relearn the rules tho...anyone willing?
I can only imagine a few of you thought me dead...lol. |

Tim,
Where are you geographically these days? I'm sure we could find a worthy opponent or two for you to practice with, and I'd love to see you back at Cold Wars or Historicon next year. |

Echoing the others - would be great to see you, Tim. Where are you, and we'll identify a suitable v/i/c/t/i/m/ player. Roman theme next year... |

Yo Tim!!!!
Have no fear.
I remember back when...... When the Tournaments were in the Theatre of the Host in Lancaster. I was playing some really nice fellow whose name I cannot recall but up walks Derek Downs who had been out of the hobby for a number of years. He sat down with me, saying" Let's see if I remember anything."
He won the game for me. I felt sorry for my opponent. I am sure he would have beaten me.
The moral of the story. I made Derek what he is today. I can make you also a Champion.
Oh, Not that I hold a grudge or anything but last time we met. You said that you owed me a game.
I am calling in the IOU.
