Well, I would not have expected to see Irr A SHCm in a Dogs of War list. But it actually makes a wacky knid of sense. The D class troops are so cheap you actually have some points to splurge on those crazy Irr A camels. I kinda like this list. |

It has a certain kind of charm...I think anyone would have a lot of fun with it. |

Nice list - better I think than the one I have - Reg EHC is very expensive - and I have over 200 foot figures - they would struggle against this list - but a bit of luck and this list would have its own issues- nice list Frank |

Camels are nice, but sadly don't fight 1.5 ranks even with the lance. I would go more SHC/EHC with those points.

"A second rank of cavalry, camelry or knights armed with L...", page 83, 9.23. Camel lancers certainly do fight 1.5. |

Well I will be a monkey's uncle Frank - guess I misremembered a rule chat with Scott about it. Getting old.

I love this list because
a) it features SHCm, ie "chrome" as Bill and I like to call that sort of stuff
b) it's the opposite of what my approach to the 1200pt Dogs tourney will be
I'm going to take LIR and have a plan on how to use the Experimental Scythed chariots, thus, I'll have my own "chrome" on the table.
Frank's approach here, put the high morale stuff in the open, is the opposite of mine with the LIR. I'm going back to how the Brits fielded LIR back in the early days of our predecessor set of rules. That means "D" class legionaries in the open, hopefully suitably armed and protected to deal with something like hordes of L-armed 4-legged shock troops. All the high value stuff will be rough terrain troops who are designed to kill off all the opposing rough terrain troops. I'll help myself towards that goal by over cluttering the tables with rough terrain when I set things up for the day.
The key is finding the right balance between legionaries and everybody else. This won't be nearly as much of an issue come the Roman Civil War theme where there isn't a potential constraint of forced usage of "D" class troops. In 1200pt Dogs, I'm still not sure how to finagle the list to perform its missions and field 540pts of "Ds". Still, it should be fun and if nothing else, I'll see how the chariots work...or don't.

Yes, this Parthian list is designed to 'not lose' on most of the table while killing what they can in the open.
SHC are reasonably protected against bows and darts, many foot weapons and javelins. |

So my list will have decent loos formation and Cav - and junk foot - but lots of it in 1200 points I plan to feild 200 foot figures |

Totally forgot to post my Dogs of War list for Parthian.
Frank was instrumental in the preparation of the list and I LOVED running the troops here. Cuddos to Bill L for the Camelphracts and the rest of the borrowed lead. So much fun.
Parthian
1201 pts - 117 Scouting (58.5, 39)
CIC 2E Cataphracts Ir B SHC/EHC L (cp) 166
Sub 2E Cataphracts Ir B SHC/EHC L (cp) 116
2E Cataphracts Ir B SHC/EHC L (cp) 103
2E Camels Ir A SHCm/EHCm L 96
2E Camels Ir A SHCm/EHCm L 96
7E Horse Archers Ir C LC B 81
7E Horse Archers Ir D LC B 67
7E Horse Archers Ir D LC B 67
7E Horse Archers Ir D LC B 67
6E Arab Cavalry Ir D LC B,Sh (cp) 97
8E Arab Archers Ir D LI B 41
6E Arab Javelinmen Ir D LI Jls,Sh 49
6E Arab Javelinmen Ir D LI Jls,Sh 49
6E Greek City Militia Reg D LMI LTS,Jls,Sh 106
obviously the SHC/SHCm were the attacking units and there was enough LC/LI to hold space to bring the scherpunk to the right spot (mostly)
The LC in 7E units were also helpful vs. enemy LC - the Hun battle in particular.
I would love to run it again - maybe even in a mini regardless of Dogs or not.
