OK here's one that came up in my game tonight.
My HI unit broke my opponents LHI in combat (1st bound...go the dice in my favour!)
As per the rules as close order infantry I chose not to pursue (there was zero chance to rally them)
Now if a unit ceases pursuit they need to complete a mandatory rally but does this count as ceasing as technically they never started pursuing?
We played it that it did so my unit needed to complete the rally. In this instance it made no difference as I passed the counter to turn and charge the enemy in the flank which is exactly what I would have done had I been able to approach  |

Actually, this is perhaps the only case where a unit does not need to rally.
The close order foot never pursued, thus they never ceased pursuit...therefore no rally.
Thus they can Approach move. |
