Fast Warrior

1-Ewan McNay, Varangian & Russ
2-Todd Kaeser, Viking
3-Rich Kroupa, Kushan
4-Frank Gilson, Marion
5-Matt Kollmer, Cimaroon
5-Bill Low, Thracian
7-Scott Holder, Khmer

Doubles

1-Stier/Gilson, Thracian, 12
2-Kaeser/Turnball, Post-Conquest Inca, 12
3-Kroupa/Holder, Khmer, 11
3-Kovel/Kovel, Alex Imp, 11
5-Garrett/Scott, Songhai, 11
6-Markowitz/Markowitz, French Ordonnance, 10
7-Woyke/Kollmer, E. Indian, 8
8-McNay, Varangian & Russ, 6
9-Low, E. Carthage, 6
10-Stratton/Stratton, 3

Or using the scoring system:

1-Kaeser/Turnball, 25.4
2-Markowitz/Markowitz, 23.4
3-Stier/Gilson, 20.7
4-Kroupa/Holder, 20.2
5-Kovel/Kovel, 19.6
6-Garrett/Scott, 16.7
7-Woyke/Kollmer, 14.9
8-Low, 11.7
9-McNay, 11.6
10-Stratton/Stratton, 5.9

Interesting how scoring worked out. Kaeser/Turnball and Stier/Gilson were tied at 12 points. However, the latter team won the Game 3 against the former team, 5-2, and I’m typically a big fan of head-to-head being a tie breaker.

As I was working on tie breaking the other teams at 11 (you add up each team’s opponents score, I’ve been doing it this way since basically Day 1), I was struck by how an adjusted score might really turn things on it’s head. So I plugged things into the spreadsheet after I got home and there you go.

Given this event, while it can get chippy, particularly in the 3rd round as everybody’s mostly brain dead by that point, I’d like to think nobody really cared in the long run of their life whether or not they won what was probably the last Doubles event at Bill Con (it’s problematic if Bill will be in the house this time next year).

We had 9 teams! Were gonna have ten but Dave Dietrich and Scott McDonald bailed. Bill and Ewan agreed to play solo and did for the first two rounds. Ewan then bailed and Bill played a command with me and Rich (we had 4). Bill Chamis game down to hang for the day and played Round 2 with Bill so it all worked out.

I’ll have more later in the week and regale y’all with my *ten* hours on an airplane trying to get from BWI to Denver Sunday evening.
