Off the top of my head I can not come up with any examples of
artillery fighting in HTH "effectively". But then, it doesn't in the game
either...

It does. I'll charge artillery with LI anytime. (Actually, I'll
charge artillery with anything...) I can only recall two attacks on
artillery that did not result in the artillery going away. I attacked
Holder's Sung Chinese arty park behind ditched palisades with LMI and
Jamie White's LIR Boltshooters up a steep rocky hill with LC. In both
cases I rolled down so the attack failed. I also successfully defended
with bombards against an Irr A LMI JLS Sh attack. However, my bombards
had rolled +3 in the prep shot and I support shot with an avalanche at the
LMI as they attacked (and rolled a +2 in the support shot) and the LMI
were exhausted when they hit. Trust me Doug, in Warrior, arty in HTH
usually dies.

I once had a situation where my LC charged some bombards, and had their rear
cut off by an enemy charge on another unit. The LC had to recoil, couldn't,
and on a whim we decided they surrendered on the spot.
