I would like to know which armies are allowed darts and for which
troop types in each army.
Thanks.

Gee Perry, is that all? Heh heh heh. I can't give you an answer for that as
yet since in many cases, it won't be determined until the army lists are
actually drafted. Some of the Biblical Warrior armies will have "darts" to
include the friggin Neo-Assyrians although I still strongly feel they
shouldn't. Some of the Byzantine armies in Dark Age Warrior will also have
"real darts".
I can say that who uses darts is spelled out specifically in the lists in
question.
There, wasn't that (un)helpful? >grin<

Scott,
As always, your comments are about as clear as bilge water. Do you
work for an agency that likes to obfuscate everything?
I agree that the Assyrians did use darts, but all my sources suggest
that only the chariots carried the siltahi.
As for the Byzantines, many believe that as the successors to the
Roman armies, that they kept the darts in the arsenal. This is
harder to prove with historical data.

>My point is that at this stage in list development, I'm in no position to say
exactly what troop types in what lists will have darts. Being done with 2
army list books and 5 more to do (plus the free New World army lists), I can't
specify who will retain/get darts. See next comment.
I agree that the Assyrians did use darts, but all my sources suggest
that only the chariots carried the siltahi.
> I couldn't agree more. Moreover, I feel the siltahi is better represented as
JLS in Warrior as opposed to D and the appropriate Assyrian list will reflect
that. It gets dicier when it comes to the foot. The still good Ian Heath
book flatly states Assyrian foot carried darts but nowhere does he provide any
supporting detail to that effect. Moreover, what info he does provide focuses
just on the chariots. And every other book or online source I've been able to
scrounge simply doesn't say one way or the other.
>The problem I encountered, then, was how other rules systems treated "foot
darts" for Assyrians. I discovered all of them went ahead and let some
Assyrian foot have darts. So I did the same except I limited it to certain
troop types. I'm still not sanguine about that decision but it seemed a
reasonable compromise. Biblical Warrior will be out next month so everybody
can look and critique:) :)

Roman armies, that they kept the darts in the arsenal. This is

>Some of the Byzantines in Dark Age Warrior will have darts, Byzantine foot
that is. I defer to Paul Georgian on the broader historical perspective on
that sorta thing.
