I was on a business trip yesterday in LA, and came across a small hobby shop
just off the I-10 and Pacific Palisades Parkway. The name of the place was
California Beach Hobbies.
When I went in to take a look, I happened to notice that they had this product
on the shelf called "The Ancient Commander", which was a game I had never seen
before. When I took a closer look, I noticed that it was a perfect rip off of
the new Warrior rules. It appears that they took the text, scanned it, and
formatted it to fit another page. The only things I saw different was the names
for troops, which appears to conform to an old game called Shock of Impact.
This game appears to be distributed by a company in England called Leeds Lead
Gaming. There was no address listed and no website, so I had a difficult time
getting any more information. The owner of the shop was not in, but I did leave
him my business card, in hopes that he will contact me, so I can find out whom
he is ordering this from.
I will keep you informed ...
Greg

Don't pay Harlan any mind!
He hasn't been the same since he found out his army was comprised of Frenchmen,
members of Al-Kaida and guys that can't decide is they are Turkish or Polish -
the entire lot commanded by a bisexual lion.

I have relatives in Leeds, so i will watch this thread with interest.
There may be something they can do for us, like visit the premises?
Or maybe i can during a visit.

Any help they can give us would be wonderful. We're just gathering facts at
this point, but we are going to be active in making anyone who does this
stop.

Wait a second there ... Harlan!
Gauls were not French (neither were Guals) ... ~wink~
Neither were Dark Age Franks for that matter, who were a Germanic people.
Most Crusader French, were not French, but were Provancal from Provance, Savoy,
Toulouse and Gascony. They did not consider themselves French, and as a matter
of fact hated the French crown more then they hated the damn Paynim. This was
the primary way that the Angevins were able to dominate the French for so long,
by making babies with the 'un-French, French" in the southern region. Hell,
they didn't even speak French as a primary language, choosing to adopt Latin in
the east, and speaking Spanish in the west.
What I would suggest, is that you modify this tournament to allow armies that
basically 'occupied' France!
As an aside, I feel this attitude towards the French is completely uncalled
for. After all, we have always been able to count on the French to be there,
every time they really needed us. Besides, I think as Americans, we should
respect and fight for the right of any nation to stuff their nose firmly up
Saddam's a$$ at a moments notice.

Yes please. And, if any of you are members of SOA (I am not), please contact
them, write a letter, whatever, so that they'll publish a little something
highlighting this issue.

Not really Chris ... I just want Mike Forbes to be able to attend with his
brand spanking new Carolingian Frank army. It would suck to have a tournament
where our newest SA player, with his brand new army, cannot attend.
Actually, I would like Harlan to change from the Later Crusaders. That way I
could play it!!!!!
I always liked that period, and the list seems workable when not played by an
army intelligence officer. ;-)

Well hold on there bald eagle.
Following your premise then, Native americans are in fact not American. All
of the Spanish tribes are not Spanish etc, etc...The various Germans are not
German. Sure you really want to go there?
