I am not changing that text. You can have a deeper base if you like.

The price of freedom is infernal vigilantes
"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then,
that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress
shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every

Great -- but the rules _require_ 80. No mention of optionally 60. I
even kicked the cat off my lap to go check.
Oh, do you want them to recoil "as based" or a specific distance?

This is a chariot you *want* on a 60mm base?

Recoils are only ever 40 paces. Doesn't matter how deep the element is.

Bases are deeper than scale so why go deeper than necessary?
What's advantageous about deeper bases?

Fitting the model and its horses on it.

There is one problem with deeper bases, however. I have deeper bases for my
Late Hebrew and Han chariots and they are the devil to maneuver in tight
spaces. There have been a couple times when being on a deeper base made a
difference in what I was able to do or not do. I am looking to rebase to cram
figures
in tighter.

There are a variety of ways to ensure that your figures fit the
base. I have not worked with true 30mm figs but have been able to
fit the 28's on the various required bases with a little forsight and
willingness to look at the bigger picture.
I have written before about fitting OG and Foundry Cat's 4 to a
base. it can be done and they don't even have to be staggered. I am
optimistic that if you use some of the modeling skills from your
youth you can find a way to "modify" the model to fit the desired
dimensions of the regulation sized base. The first thing that comes
to mind is to shorten the lenght of the center post of the horse
harnesses. This will draw the horses closer to the chariot but also
save on depth. Use clippers to snip off the front and rear edges of
the bases on the horses. This will also save a few mm on each side.
Model the model before mounting any part of it on the base. maneuver
horses around to see which will fit the outside edges better.
Just some random thoughts, but I am confident that most on this site
are creative enough to figure it out- if they really want to.
Then again, I have been wrong before and the figs may just not fit.
