I would love to play some Warrior, however I am only available on Thursday
and Sunday nights. Hopefully I will see an event in Kansas City at the
convention on May 4. I have parlayed that day off but must return on May 5
( I work weekends and nights.

Mark

Blessed are the peacemakers

Mark, As I have in the past, I plan on trying to put
on a warrior event at call to arms. I would be open to
any suggestions regarding format and game (Fast
Warrior,1250 pts, 1600pts...) Anyone interested? We
should have some decent dealers such as Rudy Nelson
and the like there for folks that are drawn to play
and buy . If you know anybody that is interested in
playing, please let me know! I'll try to get something
out to spearpoint and here on the Warrior page.

Marc

It is not a scheduling conflict and I think you know that. Warrior games are
impossible at KC cons.

And now they have become problematic at Twistercon as well.

I'm going to have to figure something out - this issue is killing us.

Jon

Don, et al.
I do not think I am going to be able to get anyone from here to come due to
who is planning on being there. It is a problem Scott and I are discussing
offline to see if there is anything we can do.

Sorry to see that you have a scheduling conflict, perhaps there will be a
Warhammer Ancient Battles tournament and somebody can teach me the rules

Jeff Lawrence is the twistercon contact. Why is Warrior problematic there?
I can see this year maybe being an issue because it is so late, but Jeff was
very accomodating of us at Fort Worth Wars (which unfortunately was
cancelled).

I do not think I am going to be able to get anyone from here to come due to who
is planning on being there. It is a problem Scott and I are discussing offline
to see if there is anything we can do.

*Opening Big Can Of Worms*

>Simply put, there is not much we can do and I am truly sorry that the bulk of
Warrior players in your area choose not to participate. But, I know *exactly*
where they are coming from and would probably take the same approach as they if
I weren't as involved with the game/hobby as I am. Therefore, after much
discussion and an initial reaction of "well, it's not worth going", Jon and I
have decided we will attend Twistercon. *I* do so with a huge amount of
hesitation because of the attendance list. I don't feel that I'm in a
position, when running a tourney on behalf of NASAMW at an HMGS show, to
actually turn someone away unless there's some compelling reason to do so (and
alas, in 15 years of heavy duty umpiring, I've never even tossed someone out of
a tourney no matter how deserving they might have been of that honor).

>However, nothing requires me to attend shows, either as a rep of NASAMW or just
as a player, on my own time and money, and I was sorely tempted to not go simply
because if I'm there as only a player, I don't want my weekend ruined by the
behavior of others. And it would be patently unfair for me to expect any
"special consideration". Therefore, I'd just as soon *not* play and hence, not
go. And if I attend as an umpire, I feel my hands are tied in terms of any
specific potential attendee, however, since attendance as an umpire is voluntary
on my part, I could always choose not to go.

But, as I mentioned before, this situation has prompted NASAMW to embark on
producing some type of code of conduct for tournaments run under our banner.
This way, we have some reasonable recourse to deny registration to someone
should the situation warrant it. For 15 years, NASAMW has done lots to promote
the positive in tournament gaming via the Sportsmanship awards. Unfortunately,
we have done little to deal with the remaining negative and until we have
something firmly in place, I'm back to my "accept everybody" or "not go"
choices. Because of what NASAMW plans on doing, I've decided that's good enough
for me to go this time around.

>But, we still have an impediment in terms of dealing with unacceptable behavior
at our tournaments. This is by no means a widespread problem, in fact, you'll
find that with one exception, the Warrior community over the years has mellowed
to the point of graciousness even in the most competitive of situations. I love
this hobby and love this game, obviously since I've put my own time and money
into seeing it continue. But, life is simply too short (at 40) for me to
continue putting up with behavior that is totally out of line with where we've
been going, as a group, for the last decade. Let's hope we see some improvement
but if not, we will not tolerate it in the future.

>Let me apologize right now for having to send out an email like this. But I am
far from alone in this feeling, otherwise, I wouldn't have said anything and
simply said "schedule conflict, can't go to Twistercon". I hope everyone
realizes how we've let this problem go unconfronted for waaaay too long so
perhaps now is the time to get it settled.

>See next email for TwisterCon tourney details (as I understand them at the
moment).

Just for the sake of those considering attending at the last second, and to
relieve me the pain of searching through the message logs Smile , could
someone repost the time and place for this event? And if it hasn't been done
already, a map and a couple of suggestions of places to stay would be nice.

Twistercon is the weekend of March 22nd, in Oklahoma City. The particulars
of the con are in a document saved in the files part of this egroup at
groups.yahoo.com.

You will not find the particulars of the Warrior Tourney there as we are
working them out.

Is it even happening....I am thinking it is canceled this year due to the

I'd be really suprised if this were so. Last year they had 10 guys show up
for DBM at twistercon. If the failure of 10 guys to show up is going to
cancel the con, particularly when Warrior promises to replace at least 8 of
them- I would have a serious look at the viability of this tournament.

The last time I asked Pat (host of Warrior at Twistercon this year), he had a
date and knew nothing of it being canceled. Not saying its not being
canceled, just haven't heard that from anyone at our end down here.

Chris
